Their Love Story

Some love stories begin with a chance meeting. Jessica and De’Marco’s began with a shared love for the video game The Sims. What started as an online friendship between two people with the same passion grew quietly over time. Years later, they virtually crossed paths again, reconnected offline and began building a life together.

Ten years of long-distance seasons, in-person moments and steady companionship eventually brought them to their wedding day in Halifax. For Jessica, knowing Dee was her person was not about one grand gesture. It was knowing exactly who she wanted beside her through every kind of moment.

“I knew Dee was my person when I realized he was the only one I wanted to talk to during the big, hard and joyful moments in my life.He grounds and validates me.”

— Jessica

Family, joy and a room full of love

The Heart of the Day

Family near, far and finally together

One of Jessica’s biggest priorities was making sure her family and friends could actually enjoy the wedding. By hiring professional caterers, decorators and other experienced vendors, she hoped to let the people she loved relax, take in the day and celebrate – without being put to work too much.
That intention was felt throughout the celebration. De’Marco’s family flew in from Chicago, while some of Jessica’s family travelled from Ontario. Watching both sides mingle and share the same room meant so much to the couple. Seeing her husband surrounded by his family and warmly connected with hers was one of Jessica’s most treasured memories of the day.
And then there was the dance floor. The good vibes, smiles and love carried right into the celebration, with the younger nieces, nephews and cousins getting it in. Aaliyah, Izzy, Reggie and Kyro danced alongside the former littles – Lilly, Brikel and D’Janay – creating the kind of joyful family memory that stays long after the last song.

Love. Joy. Laughs.

“I loved that our family and friends, near and far, were able to come celebrate with us. It meant so much to share the day with them.”

From the Designer

Colour that gave us life

Jessica came to Beautiful Celebrations & Designs after experiencing one of the weddings we had decorated. She did her homework – exploring our portfolio, reading our reviews and getting a feel for our
work. By the time she reached out, she trusted that we could take her inspiration and make it feel like
her.

The inspiration was an instant yes. The pop of color literally gave us life, and it felt like the perfect way to enter wedding season. We love inspiration with energy, and the combination of saturated fuchsia, hot pink, coral and orange was an exciting opportunity to create something joyful, bold and refined.
Jessica was one of those wonderfully easy clients – clear, kind, relaxed and trusting. Her vision was beautiful, and the planning journey flowed naturally. On the wedding day, her coordinator was absolutely amazing: organized, helpful and a wonderful collaborator as every part of the celebration came together.
Every client is a gift, and Jessica and De’Marco were truly that. Over the months between booking and the wedding day, the relationship became more personal. Watching the room fill with the family love and genuine friendship that matter so much to them made this wedding especially meaningful.

“I absolutely fell in love with Jessica’s inspiration. The pop of colour literally gave me life. It was such a wonderful opportunity to create something vibrant, and I was genuinely looking forward to her wedding – the installation, the photos and the video.”

The palette

Saturated fuchsia, hot pink, orange and coral brought energy to every view. Crisp white gave the palette room to breathe, while warm gold vessels and details added a polished finish.
The focal points
A sweeping draped sweetheart backdrop, gold-framed chairs and the personalized “The Browns – Established 2026” cake wall gave the room two distinct yet connected moments.
The details
Fuchsia napkins, ornate gold-edged chargers, bold compote florals and petite bud vases carried the design story from the backdrop all the way to each guest’s place setting.

A Favourite Design Moment

The sweetheart table and backdrop

Jessica loved everything from the table settings and signage to the cocktail tables. If she had to choose
one favourite design moment, it would be the sweetheart table and backdrop – a focal point that
exceeded all her expectations.

Set against crisp white draping and finished with sweeping fuchsia fabric, warm uplighting, gold-framed chairs and vibrant florals, the sweetheart table carried the full colour story while keeping the couple at
the centre of the room.

The Client Experience

A planning journey built on trust

“Cathy is sweet and knows her stuff! I appreciate her flexibility in coming to the venue before the big day to discuss the layout and vision, and in assuring me that everything would look great. With someone that experienced, you do not have to worry.”

— Jessica

Jessica’s experience reflects what we want every client to feel: heard, supported and excited. The venue visit gave us the chance to talk through the layout, align on the vision and make sure the design would work beautifully in the room. From the first inspiration image to the final installation, trust made the process feel easy.
